Who should you pick-up in Cam’s absence?
Cam Newton has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, and we at theeverydayfan.com wish him a speedy and full recovery, but in the short-term, we must find a Fantasy football replacement. We’ll review the options below.
To be fair, it’s not just Newton who’s test has turned-up positive. The Patriots and Chiefs have several players contributing unwanted positive test results, and until all tests are concluded we may have more dominoes to fall.
Although we don’t know exactly which players have tested positive or who they’ve been in contact with, we’ll advise proceeding with caution.
This game looks like it’s being postponed, not canceled, but you don’t want to be caught with your pants down while your Fantasy football league laughs at your expense. You want to be prepared and have a backup-plan just as the Patriots will.
Cam Newton is Out
His ability to use his God-given athletic ability and use his legs to create opportunities for the offense is outstanding. In just three weeks Cam has thrown for 714-yards, and added 149 on-the-ground.
Newton has also done a great job finding the end-zone. He’s rushed for four touchdowns and thrown for two of them. It’s this dual-threat combination of passing and rushing that have Fantasy football owners and coaches gushing over “Superman.”
But it appears Superman has found his kryptonite and tested positive for Covid-19 leaving Fantasy football owners fumbling through their phones to find a replacement.
Mayfield has looked much better this season. He is getting through his reads and making quick decisions for a Browns offense that needs him to do so.
This weekend Baker goes up against a Cowboys defense allowing 32.3 points per game and is letting opposing Wide receivers to feast off of their secondary.
The Over/Under is set at 56 points for this matchup so you know points will be scored. Having Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry at your disposal will help Mayfield put-up nice numbers.
Nick Foles led a comeback victory last weekend that has thrust him into the starter position for the foreseeable future. Foles threw for 188-yards, three touchdowns and one interception in his limited playing time.
The Indianapolis Colts do have the best defense in the NFL in only allowing 15.0 points per contest; but this game has already been moved to the later time slot, and if we know anything about Foles, it’s that he’s more comfortable when he’s uncomfortable.
Look for Nick to push the ball down-the-field and show Bears fans the reason why he’s the right choice to lead them going forward.
Carr is another quarterback experiencing somewhat of a renaissance in 2020. He has thrown for 784-yards and six touchdowns thus far. His three interceptions are the only things keeping his face off of magazine covers.
He’ll face a Buffalo team that is still in search of their defensive identity. They allowed 32 points last weekend against the Rams, and haven’t been as consistent as they were in 2019.
I expect Carr to continue his level-headed play against Buffalo, and if he can quell his turnovers he should deliver for Fantasy football owners.
Get well Cam
The reality is simple, Cam Newton has tested positive for Covid-19 and we wish him the best. Superman being sick makes us all feel a little more vulnerable.
Upon his recovery, he should be placed right back into your Fantasy football starting lineups. But for now, we’ll move on with our Fantasy in hopes that Cam’s reality improves. From us, all at theeverydayfan.com, Get well Cam!
