Why Andy Dalton is the Perfect Back-Up for the Cowboys

Firstly, all Cowboys fans do not think your season is over. Jerry Jones choosing to add Andy Dalton as back up to Dak Prescott was a genius move in the off-season. Just look at the Broncos and 49ers having to bring in Jeff Driskel, Brett Rypien, Nick Mullens. As well as CJ Beathard when Drew Lock and Jimmy Garoppolo suffered injuries. All these QB’S combined have won eighteen games out of forty-four career starts with a ratio of forty-three TDs to thirty-six interceptions.

Andy Dalton on the other hand has achieved multiple NFL records since entering the league in 2011:

One of ten QBs in NFL history to throw over 3,000 yards in all his first three seasons (2011 3,398, 2012 3,669, and 2013 4,296)

One of Six QBs to pass for least 20 TDS in all of his first three seasons (2011 20, 2012 27 and 2013 33)

In fact, since 2011 Andy Dalton has only passed for less than twenty TD’s. Only three occasions (2014 19, 2016 18 and 2019 16) recording a career total two hundred and four TDs. Also one hundred and eighteen interceptions over one hundred and thirty-five career starts.

His last season with the Bengals was not his best (528/314/60%/16/14/3494 over 13 games). But his career average being 20.5/33/1/62%/234.9 and eighteen points per week in fantasy over all his one hundred and thirty-five starts. Dak Prescott now out for the season with his leg/ankle fracture. We all wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see on the field fully fit in the 2021 season. Since 2016 averages twenty-two fantasy points per game (over 69 career starts). Recording a career average of 21.9/33.2/66%/255.6 but a better a TD/interception record of one hundred and six to forty.

Breaking down their impact on the field Dak Prescott has had fourteen games of 300 passing yards or more. Twenty-five games of passing for multiple TDS compared to Andy Dalton with twenty-eight and sixty-four. Throughout his one hundred and thirty-five career starts, Andy Dalton has won seventy games. He had twenty-fourth quarter comebacks and twenty-four game-winning drives. So do not sleep on him especially with lethal receiving targets such as Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, Ceedee Lamb, Cedric Wilson, and Dalton Schultz.

My prediction for the season is 319/231/2750/16/5
