Coaching in my opinion is the main reason why the 49ers won their first division game of the year. Kyle Shanahan got us back to basics. Quick throws, run the ball, and control the clock was the game plan. Running the ball to the edges, eliminated Aaron Donald influence on the game. The quick throws helped the offensive line and they didn’t give up a sack. The wide receivers made plays catching and running the ball. This was a masterful game plan against a very good LA Rams team.
Jimmy Garoppolo completed 23-33 passes for 268 yards, 3 touchdowns, and a QB rating of 124.3. The game plan seemed to be, get Jimmy Garoppolo comfortable to execute Kyle Shanahan game plan. Quick throws to get to ball into the wide receiver’s hands and let them make plays. Jimmy Garoppolo had more zip and a quicker release than last week. Jimmy Garoppolo did leave a few throws on the field, but he wasn’t asked to carry the load.
Jason Verrett is starting to look like his 2015 pro bowl year. Emmanuel Moseley coming back from injury and this was a very improved unit. The 49ers cornerbacks played a physical game. Constantly knocking passes down and fighting to make plays on the ball. They did a very good job considering there really wasn’t a pass rush. I am concerned if Jaquiski Tartt misses any time, he left the game in the third quarter.
Overall this is the best performance by the 49ers in 2020. Against a quality opponent in the Rams. The 49ers played well in all three phases of the game. Even with injuries still piling up, there is no quit in this team. The rest of the NFC is on notice, the revenge tour is not over.
