The NBA has told the Golden State Warriors and Draymond Green that Green has met the requirements to return to full action with the Warriors. Green was suspended indefinitely for his attack on Jusuf Nurkic during a game against the Phoenix Suns. It was the second of such incidents Gren had on the court in a short period of time. For this, the NBA suspended Green indefinitely and placed conditions for his return. The NBA on Sunday had this to say;
“Green completed steps that demonstrated his commitment to conforming his conduct to standards expected of NBA players,” the league said in a statement. “He has engaged in meetings with a counselor and has met jointly on multiple occasions with representatives of the NBA, the Warriors and the National Basketball Players Association, both of which will continue throughout the season.”
As for Green, he took to his podcast and gave us all a peek at how bad it has been for him by telling us that he had contemplated retiring after the incident with Nurkic. He said he had a long talk with the commissioner, Adam Silver, and he talked Green out of retiring.
“I told him, ‘Adam this is too much for me. … This is too much. It’s all becoming too much for me — and I’m going to retire,'” Green said. “And Adam said, ‘You’re making a very rash decision and I won’t let you do that.’
“We had a long, great conversation — very helpful to me. Very thankful to play in a league with a commissioner like Adam who’s more about helping you than hurting you; helping you than punishing you. He’s more about the players.”
The question is, is he healthy enough mentally to come back to the riggers of the NBA? Only Green and his therapist know the answer to that, but one thing is for sure, with the games amping up as the all-star break approaches, tempers will be high and we will all know if he can handle it soon. I say good luck to you Draymond, you seem to understand you have a problem and that is the first step. good luck to you sir.
