Penn State Heads Into Their Final Stretch Of Road Games
The No. 4 Penn State Nittany Lions are set to face the Purdue Boilermakers in a mid-afternoon matchup on Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Boilermakers have lost eight games in a row. On the flip side, Penn State has faced some tough competition this year both at home and on the road. Now, let’s preview the game.
Purdue Boilermakers
Under second-year head coach Ryan Walters, the Boilermakers have had to overcome some growing pains. As already mentioned, Purdue has lost their last eight consecutive games. Last week, the Boilermakers faced the Ohio State Buckeyes and lost, 45-0. Furthermore, Purdue runs a spread offense of 11 personnel and, at times, mixes in 12 personnel. Additionally, a few players that stick out for the Boilermakers are quarterback Hudson Card, running back Devin Mockobee, and tight end Max Klare.
Last week, Hudson Card was 9/19 for 108 yards and one interception. Devin Mockobee had 13 carries for 73 yards on the ground. Which averaged out to be 5.6 yards per carry. Lastly, Klare was targeted twice last week. mustering up 13 yards.
Penn State Nittany Lions
After a miserable display against Ohio State two weekends ago. The Nittany Lions came out with a chip on their shoulder against Washington. After the offense didn’t produce much against Ohio State, the Nittany Lions went back to the drawing board and worked on some corrections. Last week, Drew Allar was 20/28 for 220 yards and a touchdown. The scoring primarily came from the ground attack. Overall, Allen, Pribula, and Warren found the endzone.
Tight end Tyler Warren, whose name has been gaining the spotlight. Demonstrated his versatility again in the Penn State offense. Warren had eight receptions for for 75 yards. Outside of that, Penn State transfer Julian Fleming also found the endzone once as he was targeted twice for 19 yards. Kaytron Allen received the bulk of the carries on the ground last week rushing 20 times for 98 yards.

Overall, the Nittany Lions and Boilermakers have met 20 times on the grid iron. Penn State has won 16 of those meetings including a 10-game winning streak from 2005-2022. There is one tie between both programs. The last time that Penn State played at Purdue, the Nittany Lions won a tough game 35-31. The Boilermakers hosted a blackout and the game was played on a Thursday night. Currently, Penn State is favored by 29.5 points and the over/under is 51.5.
