Jeanne Basone’s Hooray for Hollywood!

Jeanne Basone started her career in the medical field, but Hollywood came calling and her life went in an amazing direction. In Hooray for Hollywood, Basone’s just released book, she tells her whole story. I got a sneak peak in our recent interview.

With no acting or wrestling training, Basone joined a group of other women who made history on GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling), a wrestling promotion that originally ran for four seasons. Basone, as “Hollywood,” was one of the most popular and best-remembered GLOW wrestlers. That is a credit to Basone, who took the part seriously and worked to hone her wrestling skills, as well as her look. Given the freedom (or did she just take it?) to develop her character, Basone did just that, setting herself apart from the others.

When GLOW originally ended, Basone wasn’t done with wrestling, nor was she done with the entertainment field. Basone remained active in independent wrestling companies, while building an acting career. One of her first roles was on television’s Married with Children. Much more recently, she also appeared in Silent Times, the first silent film of its kind in 80 years. She also turned a passion for artisan soaps into Hollywood Botanika, her artisan soap company.

Basone talks about all of this in our interview. It’s easy to be impressed with Basone’s career. What’s more impressive though is how she accomplished all. Very self-motivated, Basone grew her career through guts and instinct. That is the real success story here. Basone achieved so much through sheer will, determination and simply forging ahead. Through it all, she remains humble, grateful and sweet, seemingly unaffected by the success she has. All of that clearly came through in our interview. I can’t wait to get her whole story in Hooray for Hollywood!
