The New York Boulders welcomed the Quebec Capitales to Clover Stadium in Pomona, New York, for the start of a three-game series.

New York, united and determined, is fresh off a 4-1 win over Sussex County, in which the Boulders notched their second straight victory. They took two out of three in the series against the Miners and are off to their best 17-game stretch in franchise history at 13-4.
Starting pitcher Blaine Traxel was a force to be reckoned with, hurling a complete game to register this third win of the season. David Vinksy, a true offensive powerhouse, continued his stellar play, belting his sixth home run of the season and increasing his Frontier League-leading RBI total to 25. Joe DeLuca, a player of immense talent, went deep as well.
Scoreless after two innings of nail-biting action, the Boulders broke the stalemate in the third inning with a thunderous grand slam off the bat of third baseman Chris Kwitzer. The ball soared high, landing on the concourse in right field, which sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Meanwhile, New York starting pitcher Garrett Cooper settled into a grove, retiring nine hitters in a row at one point. Quebec managed to break Cooper’s shutout bid in the seventh with a run on a double play. After exiting the game, Cooper dialed up a gem, yielding one run on four hits and fanning six.
The Capitales trimmed the margin to 4-2 in the top 8th on a wild sequence of events. Quebec third baseman Jake MacKenzie bashing a drive where the ball bounced off the top of the railing and back into the field of play.
After Boulders right fielder Steve Barmakian retrieved the ball and hurled a throw back into the infield, the ball skipped by, enabling MacKenzie to scoot around third base and across home plate.
New York answered back in the bottom half of the frame. Shortstop Austin Dennis cranked a two-run double into the right-center gap that extended the lead to 6-2.
