On the Beat with DePaul Softball Head Coach Liz Bouck-Jagielski

DePaul softball has a new Head Coach in Liz Bouck-Jagielski. DePaul isn’t new to Coach Bouck-Jagielski.

A former letter-winner at DePaul from 2000-2003, Bouck-Jagielski is excited about her return to her alma mater. During her career at DePaul, she was a key part of the Blue Demons making four NCAA Tournaments, including the Women’s College World Series in 2000. The Conference USA Player of the Year in 2002, Bouck-Jagielski eventually also was ultimately inducted into DePaul’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

After her collegiate playing career, she became an assistant at DePaul, again helping the team to two more WCWS appearances and seven NCAA Tournaments. She also played pro ball in National Pro Fastpitch for a couple seasons. Never straying far from the softball diamond, She coached high schoolers for many years.

I met Coach Bouck-Jagielski at an Athletes Unlimited Softball game a few weeks ago. Earlier today, I had the opportunity to interview her. She discussed her style of play, balancing playing time with winning, her coaching staff and much more, including giving a sample recruiting pitch. If I was 40 years younger and female, I’d be heading for Cacciatore Stadium on Chicago’s near north side.

Coach Bouck-Jagielski brings energy, enthusiasm, experience and knowledge to the DePaul softball program. After two disappointing seasons below .500, DePaul’s future looks bright. I can’t wait for the season to start. Let’s begin the countdown to Opening Day! (I’ll save you the trouble of counting…its about 155 days away.)
