Top 5 NFL QB’sn 2024 Season

The top 5 quarterbacks in the NFL should be an easy thing to pin down I mean with the eye test and accomplishments we should know one through five right? This is where I differ from many others who write and follow the NFL. I know I know I am not crazy and put Trevor Lawrance at number one, but there are many factors to me and potential is far down the line for me. What have you done for me lately is one factor. If you have been out for a year or so then I can’t have you in the top five when there are so many other talented guys playing.  Team and coach around the guy is another factor for me.

If you want me to rank a guy in the top five but his team always falls flat, or the team has had three coaches in the last six years, I’m not into it, you can call that unfair to put that on a QB but all of that matters.  The eye test is another factor that when out with the others, works. In saying all this the number one guy is an easy one.

TOP FIVE QBs

  1. Patrick Mahomes – When it comes to being a QB in the NFL in today’s game, this guy is the model. He has it all, the skill to through it in many ways and be as accurate as you can want. The ability to run when needed and still make a play in the air while doing it. The mental ability to understand what the defense is doing before they do and of course, he has won a few Super Bowls. He has the couch, the supporting cast and may just make history with a three-peat. Enough said.
  2. Lamarr Jackson – Three quarterbacks have won MVP since 2018: Aaron Rodgers, twice, Patrick Mahomes, twice, and Lamar Jackson twice. I know one of my big elements was, what have you done for me lately? He may not have won a championship yet but he has been in the mix and he has the team and coach to round out the elements. With his dynamic runs and his accurate passing, even when he had no weapons. To me, he has to be number two.
  3. Josh Allen – Some might question why he and not a man from Cincinnati is at number three. Because Allen plays and has played and in the same light as Jackson, Allen has been in the hunt and has ran into that number one guy Mahomes a few times, to judgment there. He has all the other qualities and it is his time this season to show if he can be a champion QB or a very good one. We have all seen what he can do with those epic battles with KC but can he lift them past the evil kingdom is the question.
  4. Matthew Stafford – Before some of you Cowboys fans get uptight, or Charger fans call disrespect here it is. Stafford has won, period. Not only has he won on a consistent manner but he has a title and a team that can be right in the mix once again. That is saying a lot for a 35-year od that slung 32 touchdowns last season.
  5. Dak Prescott – This was purely due to the lack of the others playing last season. This could be Burrow, Rodgers or Herbert but the first two did not play and the last one just has not had the team or coach around him. Dak on the other hand has it all. They have the talent around a guy who can throw, and run and is a clear leader. He can take them to the playoffs but as of yet, that is the big problem…the playoffs. This season says it all to me. You have the team, coach (supposedly) talent, get to the NFC championship and it may buy you another year in the top five, if not see you way in double digits next season.

Honorable Mention

  1. The aforementioned Justin Herbert. As mentioned this guy seems to have most of the qualities needed to be in the top echelon of NFL QBs and now he has a coach that can take him from good to great. All the talent this guy seems to have and now we may get to see what he can really do in a system that may release that talent. With that said that is still an if and so he sits outside the top five.
  2. Jaylen Hurts – I know he took a step back last season but there is much more to that than just his ability to be a top QB. He still has a coach that can coach and a team around him that has enough talent. If he is an elite talent he can make what he has to work with work as many have had a lot less than the Eagles this year and won. A proving year to me.

Watch out for

  1. Joe Burrow – Many believe is the second-best QB in the league behind Mahomes, but to me, he has only got there once and failed and then he has seen injuries over the past couple of years. Let me see him in a full year with as much health as any can in a season and we can see if he measures up. Keep your eyes watching.
  2. Aaron Rodgers – This man is still able to play as effectively as he has for a decade and more. If he comes back healthy, and reason to think he won’t, this guy could have a season like no other as he has a team in NY that could surprise many casual watchers. They have talent and a defense that can bring a title if he plays like Rodgers once again. Big eyes on this one.

You can argue with the list as all lists can be argued against, but this one is mine and I stand by each one in that order. Next, I will look at the best of the young NFL talent. Stay with EDF Lifestyle for more great NFL and CFB content!
