What a Night in The NBA

The NBA postseason has caught fire and last night they gave us two of the best games so far in these playoffs. The New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers went into game two with the Knicks up 1-0 and the Sixers looking to steal on in NY. In the second game, the Lakers and the Nuggets went into game two with the Nuggets up 1-0 and holding a 9-game win streak against them. This would be one great night.

The Sixers wanted this game so bad they could taste it. They fought all the way to the end where they came up just short 104-101. But it was the way it ended that made it great and controversial.  The Knicks down 5 with 27 seconds left Knicks guard Jalen Brunson nailed a three to cut the lead to two. The Sixers found themselves in a tight spot while inbounding the ball, leaving Tyrese Maxey to give up a turnover.

DiVincenzo shoots a three, which bangs off the rim. The Knicks big man Isaiah Hartenstein comes down with the board, and the Knicks get another shot with a big Donte DiVincenzo three and a one-point lead. After the inbound play, Maxie takes aim at the rim as he darts to the hole with Hartenstein right behind. As Maxie goes up for the layup Hartnstein being in the air already, gets a hand on the ball before it gets to the rim blocking th shot as the Knicks get the rebound and then the game.

What a game, what a finish. But that was the warmup!

The second game gave us one of the most dramatic endings of the playoffs. The game was controlled by the Lakers for most of the game, with James and AD going to a two-man pick-and-roll and both were hitting their shots. With a 20-point lead in the second half, it looked as if the Lakers would get the monkey off their back and stop the streak at 9. But the soon-to-be three-time MVP Jokic and Murray had different plans and the comeback began.

The Nuggets just kept chipping away as James and AD did all they could to keep that lead. Then with under 25 seconds left, LeBron gets a wide-open three that may have sealed the game. The ball goes off the rim and Denver rebounds, then comes down for a game-winning shot by Murray over AD as time expires. A great game as the series now moves to LA for games 3 and 4.
